High Strength Structural Bolts in Steel Construction

Bolted connections in steel structures offer fast assembly, demountability and easier on-site quality control compared to welded joints. However, bolts for structural connections are subject to different standards than general-purpose fasteners.

Preloaded Connections: EN 14399-4 / DIN 6914

In preloaded (friction-type) connections, the bolt is tightened to a high pretension with controlled torque; the load is transferred by friction between the plates. Bolts for this system are manufactured to EN 14399-4 (formerly DIN 6914), in property class 10.9 with a large hexagon head.

Bearing-Type Connections: DIN 7990

Classic shear-bearing connections use DIN 7990 steel construction bolts. Supplied with their nuts, these products can be manufactured in classes 4.6/5.6 and 8.8.

For both product groups, EN 15048 conformity, batch-based certification and traceability are indispensable requirements of project specifications. Şahi Cıvata documents its structural bolt production with test reports conforming to these standards.
